Le but de ce don est de renforcer davantage la capacit\u00e9 de l\u2019ETAF pour r\u00e9approvisionner les forces de maintien de la paix dans la r\u00e9gion et pour r\u00e9pondre aux crises humanitaires.<\/p>\n<p>La livraison de l\u2019a\u00e9ronef sert aussi \u00e0 rendre hommage \u00e0 John Robinson, pilote afro-am\u00e9ricain r\u00e9solu qui s\u2019est battu pour l\u2019\u00c9thiopie et qui est enterr\u00e9 ici. Des repr\u00e9sentants des arm\u00e9es de l\u2019air am\u00e9ricaine et \u00e9thiopienne ont d\u00e9pos\u00e9 ensemble une couronne sur la tombe de M. Robinson le 5 juin 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Le jour suivant \u00e0 la base a\u00e9rienne centrale, le g\u00e9n\u00e9ral Adem Mohammed a conduit un tour des installations de formation sur simulateur et de l\u2019Acad\u00e9mie de l\u2019Arm\u00e9e de l\u2019air \u00e9thiopienne avant d\u2019escorter la d\u00e9l\u00e9gation vers le tarmac pour exhiber le nouveau C-130E.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>L\u2019escadrille \u00e9thiopienne num\u00e9ro 15 utilisera \u00e0 bon escient son nouvel avion. Les Forces de d\u00e9fense nationale \u00e9thiopiennes fournissent aux op\u00e9rations de maintien de la paix des Nations unies plus de personnel que tout autre pays. Selon les chiffres de l\u2019ONU, en date de juin 2018, cette nation d\u2019Afrique de l\u2019Est contribuait 8.508 personnes, environ 1.400 de plus que le Bangladesh, deuxi\u00e8me contributeur.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>L\u2019engagement de l\u2019\u00c9thiopie envers les op\u00e9rations internationales de maintien de la paix date de 1951, lorsque les troupes \u00e9thiopiennes constituaient une partie importante de la force multinationale de l\u2019ONU pendant la guerre de Cor\u00e9e. En 1953, le gouvernement US accepte d\u2019aider les forces arm\u00e9es de l\u2019\u00c9thiopie \u00e0 acqu\u00e9rir des jets. En 1961, l\u2019\u00c9thiopie utilise des chasseurs F-86F et des jets d\u2019entra\u00eenement T-33 et T-28.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Il est estim\u00e9 que la flotte \u00e9thiopienne poss\u00e8de actuellement 24 avions chasseurs, 7 avions de transport, 25 h\u00e9licopt\u00e8res et environ 14 avions d\u2019entra\u00eenement.<\/p>\n<p>L\u2019ETAF contribue actuellement des soldats \u00e0 la mission de l\u2019Union africaine en Somalie. En septembre 2018, selon un rapport du r\u00e9seau m\u00e9diatique Shabelle Media Network, des membres de l\u2019ETAF ont effectu\u00e9 une frappe a\u00e9rienne contre al-Shebab apr\u00e8s avoir pris connaissance des plans du groupe extr\u00e9miste pour attaquer le contingent \u00e9thiopien.<\/p>\n<p>Le contingent a tu\u00e9 environ 70 militants d\u2019al-Shebab et d\u00e9truit deux v\u00e9hicules bourr\u00e9s d\u2019armes.
